Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Juris ("Juris," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use jurishub.ca (the "Service"). It applies to everyone who visits the Service, whether or not you create an account.
Juris is based in Ontario, Canada, and this policy is written with Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), in mind.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, the email address you sign in with, and a password (stored by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing — we never see or store your password in plain text).
Profile information. Anything you choose to add to your profile — username, profile photo, headline, bio, target recruitment cycle, target jurisdictions and practice areas, social media links, and firms you pin to your public profile.
School verification information. If you verify your student status, we collect the school email address you use to verify and match it against a whitelist of recognized school domains. This is stored separately from your login email.
Content you create. Articles and posts you publish to the Feed, firms and applications you bookmark or track, and any notes you add to your private Application Tracker.
Usage information. We log certain interactions — such as viewing a firm or school profile, clicking through to a firm's application portal, or adding a firm to a comparison — tied to a session identifier and, if you're signed in, your account. We use this in aggregate to understand which parts of the Service are useful, and it's visible to platform administrators in summarized form.
Cookies. We use a small number of cookies required to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Operate and maintain the Service, including your account and the content you create
- Verify your student status against a school's email domain
- Send transactional email — verification codes, password reset links, and account approval notices — via our email provider, Resend
- Protect the Service against automated abuse, using hCaptcha (operated by Intuition Machines, Inc.) on sign-up, sign-in, and password-reset forms
- Understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the Service
- Communicate with you about your account when necessary
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers. We rely on a small number of providers to operate Juris, each of which processes data only as needed to provide their service to us: Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Vercel (application hosting and privacy-focused analytics), Resend (transactional email delivery), and hCaptcha (bot protection).
Public information. By default, your profile is public — your name, photo, headline, bio, verified school, target practice areas and jurisdictions, pinned firms, and social links are visible to anyone who visits your profile page, including people without a Juris account. You can switch your profile to private at any time from Settings, which hides this information from everyone except you. Articles you publish to the Feed are public once approved, regardless of your profile's visibility setting, unless you choose to publish anonymously.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of Juris, our users, or the public.
Firm and recruiter information
Part of Juris's mission is bringing transparency to the Canadian legal recruiting process. The Vault includes information about law firms and their recruiting contacts — names, titles, and work email addresses — sourced from firm websites, official recruiting materials, and industry sources such as NALP Canada and the Law Society of Ontario. This information is about firm representatives, not Juris users, and is published as part of our recruiting-transparency mission.
If you're a firm representative and would like information about you corrected or removed, contact us at the address below.
Your choices and rights
Access and correction. You can view and update most of your information at any time from Settings.
Visibility. You control whether your profile is public or private, and whether posts you publish are attributed to you or anonymous.
Access, correction, or deletion requests. We don't yet have a self-service way to delete your account. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, email us at info@jurishub.ca and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
If you're in Canada, PIPEDA gives you the right to know why we collect, use, or disclose your personal information, to access the information we hold about you, and to challenge its accuracy.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we'll delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
Children's privacy
Juris is intended for law and pre-law students and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including database-level access controls that restrict what data any given user or system can read or write. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
International data
Our service providers may store and process information outside of Canada, including in the United States. By using Juris, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws than Canada.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date below. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
